About

Nature Economy Manager

Are you keen to use your skills, passion and experience to help drive the development of a sustainable Nature Economy across Derbyshire? If so, we may have the perfect job for you.

Nature is in decline, and we need to put it into recovery. The drivers for nature’s decline come from income being generated by converting natural capital into economic capital. We can identify a range of mechanisms to generate income without this conversion, creating a financial incentive to deliver nature’s recovery and a truly sustainable Nature Economy.

As Nature Economy Manager you’ll be part of a new team at DWT which will establish itself as a proven sector leader in successfully unlocking and embedding economic solutions that are nature-positive, net zero and socially just.

You will lead the development and maintenance of an innovative and sustainable workstream, with others across the Trust, to pilot new approaches that sustainably deliver nature’s recovery, especially in the developing markets for Ecosystem Services (e.g., Biodiversity Net-Gain, Carbon Credits, Nutrient Neutrality, Eco Tourism).

To be successful you will be keen to pilot new solutions that are still in development phase, have experience of working at the interface between nature and the economy, with proven success in planning, managing and implementing complex and evolving programmes.

What we can offer you:

You’ll be working for an award-winning organisation recently featured in the Times Top 100 Best Places to Work. You’ll benefit from:

  • Flexible working options, we have adopted a 9-day working fortnight meaning all full-time staff get a non-working Friday every fortnight
  • 33 days annual leave including bank holidays, we also have a festive shutdown, so all staff get the days between Christmas and New Year off in addition to their leave entitlement
  • Climate Perks (extra leave granted for staff using more green, sustainable transport)
  • 9.5% employer pension contribution
  • Electric bike and car salary-sacrifice schemes available
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Life Assurance Scheme
  • Personalised Development programme designed to enhance your knowledge and progress your career
  • A multi-disciplinary business, with opportunities to work on a wide range of projects, developing your experience and skills
  • A friendly and supportive team, with a relaxed office atmosphere
