About

Trustee (Voluntary Role)

Be Part of the Movement for a Wilder Derbyshire

Join our Board as a Trustee

We’re looking for new Trustees to help steer our mission to create a wilder, greener, fairer Derbyshire—where people and nature thrive together.

As a Trustee, you’ll play a vital role in shaping our direction, championing our values, and supporting transformative action. You’ll join a passionate, skilled and committed Board that reflects the diversity and energy of our movement.

We’re especially keen to hear from people with experience in:

  • Fundraising – crafting and delivering strategies that unlock bold new possibilities
  • Nature and Wellbeing – understanding how wild spaces support healthier lives
  • Audience Development – building inclusive, creative ways for communities to connect with nature
  • Campaigning and Community Organising – mobilising voices and action for change

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust is a charity with a clear vision:

A wilder Derbyshire, where people and wildlife thrive together.

We’re working to deliver bold, imaginative and landscape-scale change. With more wild spaces and richer habitats for nature.

But we can’t do it alone.

We strongly believe everyone has a part to play in nature’s recovery.

By inspiring and enabling people to take transformative action, we’re helping to bring nature back to the heart of our communities.

And through rewilding initiatives, ambitious partnerships and community-led efforts, we’re creating endless ways to be wilder by nature.

We believe nature belongs to everyone. That’s why we’re working to dismantle barriers and build a movement that’s inclusive, equitable and welcoming—especially for people from Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority backgrounds and LGBTQ+ communities.

If you're ready to bring your skills and experience to help shape decisions, support our growth, and make a real impact for nature and communities across Derbyshire, we’d love to hear from you.

What to do next?

If you’re interested, we encourage you to have an informal conversation with our Chief Executive Officer, Jo Smith, on 01773 881188.

When you're ready, apply online via our website.

Interviews are planned for 15th September 2025.
